    Free Solar Home System Project

    According to the decision made by the Sindh government, the Free Solar Home System Project is to be completed by July 31, 2025, as one major initiative for improving the electricity supply in the entire province. The project aims at reducing the electricity gap between rural and urban Sindh, apart from accelerating alternative energy development.

    Key Features of This Project

    Usual practices by Sindh Energy Minister Nasir Hussain Shah presiding over a meeting along with Minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani, who reviewed the distribution of 200,000 solar home systems with the support of the World Bank. The meeting discussed in detail the pace of the project, practical difficulties, and the distribution system. During the meeting, the Sindh Energy Minister issued instructions to ensure the distribution of 1,600 solar home systems in each district within a month. Besides this, for the project to be accomplished within the stipulated time, the target of 400 solar systems per week was defined.

    Distribution of Existing Solar Systems

    The meeting also decided to immediately distribute 50,000 solar systems in the warehouse. The ministers directed that a report be submitted after distributing all these solar systems within 30 days so that the progress of the project could be properly reviewed.
